Peregrine Falcon Success Story

I confess to having a weakness for birds of all kinds, particularly wild ones, so I thought you would like to see this short film. It is the moment when a rare peregrine falcon is released back into the wild in the province of Arezzo,Tuscany.

The bird was found last November with severe fractures to its radius and ulna (as far as I understand from the film commentary – thought I caught radia e ulna in there!)and was operated on three times with a gap of a month between ops for it to recover.

According to the vet whose heroic surgery saved the falcon, the young bird was very lucky as 90 percent of them do not survive their first winter. He looked pretty proud of the falcon as he released it after six months of recuperation, even kissing the top of its head for luck. In bocca al lupo falco!
